The Old Stand Restaurant and Bar, Shanagolden

Staff are so friendly and welcoming everyone of them says hello to you but not in a fake way .... The place is spotlessly clean And the food is lovely highly recommended this place !

We visited the Old Stand on 12th December for an evening meal. Myself and my husband have visited previously a couple of times and didn't really rate it. However, since its reopening I must say what a fantastic evening we had, and felt I needed to review it. The staff went over and above to make us feel welcome, the food was delicious, and there was a great choice on the new menu. The place has been done up to a high standard and I think the new look and seating arrangement works so much better, it's cosy and very very welcoming. Just 1 thing I wanted to mention, please don't feel you need to apologise for following current government guidelines, anybody visiting this sort of establishment should do so knowing that restrictions are in place everywhere, and shouldn't question or be "put out" by the new way we have all had to adapt. Trust me, your 1 way system, social distancing practices, availability of hand sanitisers and the staffs understanding of how to keep people safe really is second to non, and the little details such as the waiters and waitresses wearing gloves to place crockery and napkins onto the tables, and signs to inform us our table was fully sanitised were recognised and didn't go unnoticed. It's genuinely one of the most efficiently run COVID safe places I've been to recently. We honestly felt very safe in your care. Do please all keep up the good work,and I'm delighted to say we will definitely be back again soon. Well done to all the the amazing staff and management at The Old Stand.

We had the pleasure of celebrating our daughters first Holy communion here recently. I have to say it was the making of a great day. Everything from our very first contact to book the date to a warm farewell when we were leaving contributed to a great experience. The food was amazing, all our guests were full of compliments. The staff were so polite, accommodating and helpful. The service was amazing. My daughter was treated like a princess. The staff were really genuine and friendly but professional. The premises were extremely clean including the toilets. There isn't one negative thing to mention. We are looking forward to dining here again soon and will definitely book for future family occasions. Thanks to Mary, Helena and all the staff for making our daughters day such a memorable one.

Had lunch here Sunday 20th October food was excellent Black Pudding Salad Starter is delicious. Staff pleasant and friendly. Would definitely recommend a visit

We visited with our cousins, this is our second visit and enjoyed it as much as our first visit. The food was lovely, tasty and a good portion size The lady who served us was very pleasant, friendly and had a great sense of humour. We were not rushed during our meal, and there was a good wait between courses. The cost of 4 adult meals with a dessert each was very reasonable as well I strongly recommend The Old Stand for a meal. It was fantastic ????????

The food was great and the service was even better our waitress katie was so polite, friendly and helpful! Would definitely recommend.

This restaurant came recommended by a tour guide, and we were thankful to have heard about it. The food is excellent and plentiful, the service attentive. This place was frequented by locals, not just couples but by families and groups as well. It’s worth the drive to enjoy this restaurant and see a small village free from tourists. We both enjoyed the Red Thai Curry, but they had a fairly extensive menu.

Last night we had wonderful food in a quiet area with loads of room, the waiter & waitress were very attractive and nice to the children, the food was so wonderful, this is a place off the beaten path that is truly worth a visit, I have no choice but to very highly recommend it. Top class, I'll be back, well done
