Very tasty food

I visited the cafe with my friend before we went to the Lavery and Osborne exhibition for lunch. I had the traditional quiche with a choice of 3 beautiful salads for 10 euro which I really enjoyed. The cakes looked wonderful but I had no room to indulge. Will return as soon as I can.

Fab food in beautiful surroundings

Irish Museum cafes seem to becoming destinations for good quality, Ballymaloe-style food. The hunt cafe is no exception. In a beautifully restored basement of the old custom house in Limerick, the view over the water is stunning. The soups, salads, sandwiches, scones and tarts are fresh, home made and are of top quality. The brown bread that comes with the soup was just perfect. The salads tasted like the veggies were hand picked that morning. The hunt museum itself is absolutely worth a visit. Where else would you find works by Gauguin and Renoir stashed away in drawers awaiting diligent visitors and rewarding them with surprise and delight. Lovely, lovely place.

Worth a visit on its own

You will find it downstairs in the Hunt Museum. It is popular with locals both for lunch and for casual coffee or tea. The lunch menu is extensive with an emphasis on good hearty food and serious portions - you will not go hungry.

Lovely cafe in glorious surroundings

The Hunt museum is an absolute darling of a museum and the cafe is idyllic too, huge ceilings add to the elegance of this lovely place. Great coffees, delicious cakes and great staff all lend this eating experience an old fashioned charm.
