BRILLIANT in all Respects

Over the past few months there have been severe road works right outside this little Gem. Nonetheless there was always a fair number of guests in the restaurant when I would arrive for my Special Sunday Take Away Dinner around 6pm. (I would have phoned in the order earlier ). Yes they do Take away since Covid began .There is a varied take away menu on Facebook but we have opted for the Roast Beef for the last 10 dinners, and each one was absolutely perfect , beef you could eat without teeth !! crispy fresh veg , (no frozen stuff here) heavenly Gluten Free Gravy , Mash better than anywhere else I have been , and on special request Just Perfect Roast potatoes.Ella is so kind and understanding and Customer service is far above the norm. The Road works are gone and there is now plenty of space in the car Park and without hesitation I would endorse The Friary as the best Stop on The N5 .Brilliant Food Brilliant Service, Brilliant Car park and Excellent Value . Try it and see for yourself ,

Best meal we had in Ireland

Was driving across NW Ireland and stopped because of hunger. Had the daily special of roast beef which was excellent. Travel companions had the daily special of Salman which they said was also excellent. Was introduced to squash water and enjoyed it. Price was very reasonable and the owners (I assume) were very friendly. Highly recommend.

Great little place

Stopped off on our way to Mayo lovely lady served us my husband was in heaven ordered the mixed grill and out came the biggest steak he has ever been served in Ireland he could not finish it I had chicken breast special plus tea best value ever cant recommend it enough

Great food at great price

A group of us called in for main, dessert and tea/coffee. Staff were lovely. Food was really good and portion size was massive. Mains were lovely as was dessert. If you are passing Tulsk and are hungry call in to this great restaurant.

Excellent food, friendly service

We stopped at the Friary Tulsk (O'Connors) for a bite before going on the Rathcroghan Tour, and the food was delicious. Our nine-year-old had the chicken goujons, which were flavorful and tender; I had the vegetable soup, which I loved (oh, that brown bread), and my husband had a BLT, which he said was the best one he'd ever had, and that's from a guy who has eaten a lot of BLTs in his life. A perfect lunch before going on the Rathcroghan tour. Highly recommended if you're going through Tulsk.

Excellent food and warm, friendly owners.

After car troubles, we had a taxi take us into Tulsk. We got to the restaurant on a Sunday evening. They had already been closed for 30 minutes, but after hearing about our breakdown, the owner welcomed us in and served us one of the best meals we've had in Ireland. If there were more than five stars, I'd give them. I ordered the Salmon. So delicious, and my boyfriend, the lamb roast. Wow! Best we've ever had. If you are anywhere near Roscommon or Athlone, make the trip.
