Taaffes Pub

We went to Taaffes to enquire if we could book a table for four for the 5.30 music session on Sunday 28/9/21. One of the bar staff told us they don’t take bookings but come back at 5pm and we might get a table. He was really friendly and helpful. We returned at 5pm and were told all the tables were full inside and we couldn’t sit outside because there were only 2 small tables left and we were not permitted to pull them together. When we assured her we wouldn’t pull the tables together she reluctantly let us sit down. I went inside to use the bathroom and when I went in there were three empty tables. I asked the barman why were we not let sit at one, he said he didn’t know they were there but they ‘might be reserved’, I said we had been told earlier they don’t take reservations. He replied ‘they might be reserved for family/friends of management’. When I didn’t argue he said ‘I’ll get you in’. We went in and had a really great night. However the bar staff were quite aggressive when they were clearing the bar at closing time. At one point I could feel drops of water landing on my head and when I looked up, one of the bar men was spraying sanitiser in the air from a bottle while shouting at us it was time to go home. Having said all that we did really enjoy the night but in my opinion some of the staff need to be reined in by management.

The best pub for service in Galway by far. Called in here as a solo female traveller on 13/08 at around 4pm. The staff here all work so so hard. The drinks kept coming and never seen any of them idle. Genuinely never seen such discipline and hard work from a group of staff. The management can be very reassured all staff are doing a great job on their behalf. Will be back!

Cannot begin to explain how terrible of a expiernce I had here , all staff are very clearly undertrained and we’re hopeless . Myself and two friends came here for one drink which was made completely wrong ,as two of us working in a bar we were certain of this . We had to express this mistake to three separate staff members who had absolutely no idea about customer service and were of no help, all of them didn’t even know what the drink was made up of or how to deal with our situation . We eventually asked for a manger as it seemed we were being ignored . The manager proceeded to tell us we gave off “ bad vibes “ and was extremely rude . We dealt this the whole situation in a calm and respectful manner and all we got back was abuse . We ordered another drink after this , draft cider so they couldn’t mess up . It was all fine until we came to pay and seen we were charged for the drinks we took one sip from . Fed up with everything we payed for them and left very very unhappy. Would not recommend this place to anyone and will not return again.

Had a great time in Taaffes, our waitress Fiona was really helpful and friendly! Will definitely be back.

Simply a great place with great staff. Even with the circumstances we have at present its still as good as place as ever to unwind.
