Sleepy Hollows Campsite

We visited Donegal back in September of this year and we were lucky that we decided to set up base camp at Camping Sleepy Hollow. Where do we start in trying to describe one of if not the best camping experience we've ever had. We've camped all over Europe including Iceland, Scotland and Poland and Ireland of course but we must admit that Camping Sleepy Hollow tops the list easily. Set in a lovely, quiet, peaceful area and in driving distance to all major attractions in the county. Check out the nice river walk too. Follow the signs from the campsite. Ian and Nicola were fantastic. What a welcome they gave us. Every night Ian would light the fire pits to keep those miggies at bay but also a meeting point for everyone to stay warm, have a drink and have a chat. Very well equipped kitchen for all to use plus a power bank for all your devices. Free unrestricted showers is always a bonus too. If you're ever up in those neck of the woods there is no better place to stay. Thanks again Nic and Ian for a wonderful stay and we'll hopefully see you again in the near future. Kasia&Conor …

Stayed here in July 2021 and completely forgot to review it. Our stay at Sleepy Hollows exceeded our expectations. The location is beautiful, and Ian and Nicola have done an amazing job with the landscaping and layout of the site. The facilities are rustic in a good way, and always clean and well-stocked. Our pitch among the trees was lovely, and as it's a small site we got to know some of the other campers. Ian lights a campfire every night to encourage this too, which is a nice touch, as are the lights throughout the site. As most other reviews have mentioned, there were midges at night, but Ian did the rounds with incense, and also has bug spray available. To be honest I would have been worried if there weren't midges, given the nearby river and vegetation. Don't let it put you off staying here. We would love to come back, and perhaps stay in one of the lovely-looking cabins. …

5 star hospitality as usual. I camped here Saturday night gone by. This was my second time staying and already looking forward to next time. Nice, Laid back atmosphere and spotlessly clean.. just off the eurovelo1 / Donegal cycle route which is convenient for any cycling

Thank you so much Ian for accommodating us at short notice in our motorhome. I thoroughly recommend a trip to this area and site. Sleepy Hollow is a lovely friendly peaceful people friendly place, a short walk from pubs and restaurants and a beautiful river walk nearby, it is dog friendly and has a very relaxed atmosphere all round, also very well organised. My only regret is that we couldn't spend more time in this place as it was a business trip but we hope to return with our families. Thank you Ian. lovely place. Steve, Frances and Jim.
