Enjoyable spot for a short visit

A good place to spend an hour or so in Dublin. Interesting and well laid out although a small enough exhibit.

Captivating the essence of Heaney’s voice

I popped into the Bank of Ireland’s exhibit last Friday 24 September 2021 on a whim ... This exhibit is a masterclass in presentation and audience engagement. It was just transportive, I stepped in off a busy street with a head full of noise from a frantic working week to this sanctuary of poetic calm. The lighting, the almost rhythmic movement the pieces generate in you as a visitor, the thrill of seeing the poetic process in motion was almost mesmerising and most definitely therapeutic. Seeing the original and annotated scripts of poems like "When all the others were away at Mass" once titled "Dear Mam and Aunty Mary" offered real insight into the art of poetic composition. And within all this was a sense of engagement with Seamus Heaney as a person (within the context of his family, his network of friendships, his evolving political world and through his lifetime). I admit I shed a tear listening to some of the recordings (in a good way) and felt my spirit lift a little on leaving. It is the best thing I have been to in a long long long time, a must visit!

Great find!

Free exhibition in a beautiful setting walks you through Heaney’s poetry and life, influences and process. Recordings of his voice and images of Mossbawn and his family are really well chosen and I loved looking at his Christmas cards and letters (Friel, Hughes etc) and especially the drafts of beloved poems. Well done NLI

A Poetic, Eloquent Tribute

We happened upon the signage for this exhibit while just walking down the street and went in. We had a very limited amount of time but still were able to enjoy it, and also would have loved staying longer if we had not had a timed ticket to the GPO museum. We loved the Seamus Heaney exhibit..very well done.
