Open to the public during Culture Night.

This is a historic building dated from the late 18th century (probably 1753).
internally one room was dedicated to Historic Irish Town Atlases and maps.
There was an exhibition on Moore in the beautiful library.
the Academy moved into this house in 1851.

Women in Politics

Attended a talk at this event. Hadn’t discovered this building before but was very impressed. Surrounded by historical decor. Old meets new. Very inspirational female political and business speakers. Quick networking afterwards. Definitely an enjoyable evening. Politics is a worthy cause with the right people be it men or women. As they say. If you want something Said...ask a man but if you want something Done..ask a woman!!!!!

RIA Dublin

Situated in two buildings on each side of Dawson Street, this museum is well worth a visit, not too far from the tourist track either, in fact right in the heart of it!!

August institution

This is a venerable institution in Irish intellectual life, being the academy for the sciences, humanities and social sciences. The lovely building is a splendid home for it. Academy membership numbers over 450, election based in recognition of academic achievements.

Only a small number of rooms are normally accessible to the public. But if you ask politely at reception, a staff member may show you some more. Of the unrestricted rooms, the attractive and busy library is on the ground floor. It has a vast collection of research books and manuscripts.

Beyond the library is the wonderful main meeting room. If an event is not taking place, it is a fine space to enter. It has lovely high decorative ceilings. The pale blue colour is very restful. The walls are lined with fine bookcases. The first storey level is accessed via a little stairs and extends around the sides. It contains many more books.

There are three marvellous metal chandeliers with old style glass shades. The same style shades are suspended from the first level.

A dream come true

I made a special appointment to see the Cathach. The staff was most accomodating, and what a thrill for me to see it. Unfortunately, since they weren’t open on the weekend, we had to see it Monday morning, the day we were scheduled to leave Dublin, so we didn’t get to see much else in the RIA. I think I could have spent a week there, after seeing all that was available. If you are a student of Irish History, this is the place to go.

King Tut Exhibit was wonderful

The exhibit for King Tuts tomb was spectacular, the price moderate, and the facility was perfect. They even allowed photos, with no flash.
