An interesting visit to the Museum

As a student I was really surprised, the Museum was a really nice change of pace and they had a lot of exhibitions. From glass beads to big longswords, from skulls to full on preserved bodies, from small rags to big preserved leather bags. A lot of exhibitons and you can spend hours just by looking at the exhibitions and reading the plaques.

Bog bodies! Gold! And lots, lots more

I went for the bog people – and they were weird and cool – but the rest of the museum is good, too. The bog exhibit was really interesting, including the descriptions of how the people got there (theories) and how they were found. The rest of the ancient stones, gold, torcs, etc was well-presented. It’s an extensive collection, and I took in details where I wanted to and browsed the rest. No cost, no time limit.

Magnificent Building

The architecture of the building that houses the museum is second to none and the whole experience is well presented throughout the ages.

Historically worthwhile

If you like Viking history, this museum was great. Or if you are interested in bog bodies, this museum is for you. At the time we were there they were only allowing a limited number of people in the museum for an hour.

Unique peak into Ireland’s ancient history.

My number one place to visit in Dublin. The gold is dazzling, the bog bodies amazing and the treasury incredible. It shows how craftsmanship of the ancients. On the second floor is the Viking and Medieval periods. It was closed due to Covid this trip but I have seen it on previous visits and very interesting. Allow at least an hour and to experience it fully spend at least 1.5 to 2 hours.

An interesting place to learn about Ireland

Many wonderful exhibits a great opportunity to learn about Irish
history. We took about 1 1/2 hours to tour the museum. If you have time and like museums - give it a look.

Well worth a visit!

Second visit to this museum on my second trip to Dublin. Just as good as I had remembered. Offers a plethora of fascinating archaeological finds from Ireland. I found the viking exhibition particularly interesting. Would definitely recommend!
