Just off R238

I had a lovely walk along this beach pushing our 9 month old which is easily accessible just off the R238. I enjoyed watching the Swilly ferry motor from Buncrana to Rathmullan. Changeable weather but heavy rain held off thankfully. My husband and toddler were digging in the sand. It is worth stopping if passing by but I think there are even better Donegal beaches on the Inishowen peninsula which I’d recommend quicker if you have more time to go in search of eg Kinnagoe Bay, Five finger strand and Pollan Strand. However as I write this, we have not visited all the beaches on the Inishowen. The aim is to hit as many as we can in our last week of a 2 week holiday here!!

Beautiful

Stayed in apartment just off this beach and enjoyed two beautiful walks on two sunny but windy days in February. Exhilarating!!
It must be a lovely place to be in the summer

Plenty parking, really big beach

Love going here for walks. Walking along the beach or through the dunes either is good. Dunes are great for kids to cycle. Nice long beach and good parking aswell.

Beautiful beach

This is a beautiful beach very close to where I live. Always nice for a walk, any time of the year. Gets busy on sunny days in summer - the hordes arrive out from Derry! Apart from that, not actually busy!

Lovely Donegal beach

We love this beach and visit it often . In winter it is great for a walk and if you are lucky with the weather and the tide is in its great for a swim in summer . Lough Swilly is tidal and there is a huge difference between full and low tide. At low tide you can’t swim here really . Unfortunately the sea here is eroding the sand dunes at a fast rate and every year the walkway and steps down to the beach gets washed away , something permanent needs to be done not just a patch up job each year. There used to be picnic tables here but no they are gone and no toilets . The council really needs to install and EMPTY more bins on the beach as it is often a mess which is a pity for such a beautiful spot. Good car parking in front of the beach .
