JJ Smyths

This little gem of a pub is a great find if you can find it. This is one of those Locals pubs although we kind of overrun it with Americans the day we were there. We went looking for the dart board ( they don’t have) and live jazz ( they also don’t have ) so we sat down and started to talk to the Bartender Phillip. He was really funny and engaging we ended staying until Supper time then we went to eat and then of course we returned for the rest of the evening. We paid dearly the next day on our way to Belfast but we don’t regret the day at all. The good thing for us was the bar was closing for 3 months so we could not go back. Well if you do check it out tell Phillip Joe, Marge and Bailee say Hi maybe he’ll give you a discount but probably not.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly member of staff (Louise), and welcomed us in. We ordered our drinks and sat down. The background music was a good mixture of modern and oldies.

All our drinks tasted fresh and of a good quality. Louise’s whiskey recommendations were amazing, having tried a few i never tried before. She delivered excellent customer service with a cheery happy, smile.

My group was there until closing, so we were there for a good few hours (3-4 hours). We got chatting to some locals and the owner who were all friendly and approachable.

I would highly recommend visiting this bar if you are in Dublin.

JJ’s is the best bar ever—favorite bar in Dublin!! My friends and I️ were visiting for the weekend and after trying about a million bars, we felt completely at home at JJ’s. The owner Stephen and bartender Phil were so friendly and accommodating, and we honestly had the most incredible time. JJ’s had a wonderful cozy ambiance, fantastic drinks, and the friendliest of people— can’t wait to return once we’re back in Dublin.

I arranged to meet friend here as it’s near to both of our bus stops. I’d passed this pub many times and never went inside. Was I happy to have discovered it on a freezing cold evening. It’s a traditional pub , warm and cosy. The female bartender is so nice and friendly. My friend arrived and we just had one drink as we were meeting others to have a meal. After our meal we decided to return to JJ Smyth’s with our friends as we got such a warm welcome there earlier in the evening. We spent a lovely time there having after dinner drinks. Will definitely be returning. It’s located about a 10 minute walk from main shopping area &Stephen’s Green.

Visited Dublin and ended up passing by a pub called jj Smyths me and 6 others we decided to pop in , and how happy I was as we found Bar person of the Year 2017 Fiona behind the Bar . Fiona was Amazing she just made the place and our Over night trip to Dublin! she was Funny , entertaining and just Great at her job. The pub is spotlessly clean and the pints are Great ! You should visit if only to see the Wonderful Fiona . Thanks for All

Family member had just passed away and was in here with the family and they refused to serve the bereaved son as he was wearing runners (time 17.10)considering I had runners on and been there since 1.30 and was OK as many times before . To be honest to the new owner I really don’t think u can be too choosey as this pub is not the same as when the previous owner had it and the locals don’t even come here.

Just had a drink here. It’s a nice quiet pub to watch some sport or just have a chat. No atmosphere really but pleasant all the same.

We are Jazz Lovers and decided to visit JJ’s. What a great evening. Great music, staff , location. If you love jazz it is place to be.
