About us

No visit to Waterford is complete if you haven’t been to Jack Meades. Standing on 5 acres, it’s been in the present family since 1857 and has been developed over the years to a fine standard with a beer garden and facilities which are totally unique. Jack Meades isn’t just a bar serving food & drink - it’s an extensive complex with various facets. The old world bar dates back to c1705, the lime kilns and ice house were built c1860, the grounds have been tastefully developed and are home to ducks, ponies, donkeys & goats. The large new bar was built in 2005 and boasts an extensive beer garden with children’s play area

Great experience

We had 2 fantastic experiences at Jack Meades during our holiday to Waterford. The place looks tiny from the outside but huge on the inside. There are many positive things to say.. Food was excellent and plentiful, our server was very friendly, attentive, great with the kids and very quick. The Covid compliance was excellent, all staff wore masks and tables were far apart and cleaned between sittings. All food tables had to be booked. There was a seperate drinks area where those just having a drink could queue safely rather than waiting for a server. Our kids had a great time in the playground and walking around the grass area with the lime kiln and ice house and the river. There was plenty of parking also. Toilets were spotless. The main thing about this place was a good vibe. There was a great buzz around the place which has been sadly lacking during and since Covid began.

Fab Food & Service

Fantasic Food, service & atmosphere, will definitely be back. My husband got bacon ribs, so rare to get in restaurant, he thought he was in heaven & the dessert, apple n berry crumble to die for YUMMY. Veronica & Sean co. Clare

Great meal out with our family.

We went to Jack Meades for a family meal out on Saturday. The service was outstanding and the food absolutely delicious. They had a large variety of really interesting dishes all cooked to perfection. We also found that to our delight the social distancing and Covid controls were well organised we felt totally safe. Sincerely well done Jack Meades on a really wonderful experience.
