Hillside Lodge

Ruth and Stuart are absolutely lovely! They confirmed our reservation very quickly and provided us with cabs' phone numbers, and indeed we needed one to get to the start of our hike. Because all cabs were fully booked we had to change our City Link bus from Galway to an earlier bus, so we could drop the bags and get back in time to get the bus to Recess cross, and they have been very flexible with this and were kind to keep our bags before our room was ready. The room was lovely, very comfortable, spotless, and....oh the view in the morning!!! Breakfast is very well organized, guests are booked for a certain time, and a form needs to be filled in the day night before with our selection. Breakfast was lovely! We checked out at 10.30am and again they kept our bags while we walked to the castle and to the beach which was nice again from them. We would love to go back and stay more than one night! We stayed for 3 nights in a Deluxe Double en suite Room which was outstanding, both in size & comfort. Excellent Hosts, Stuart & Ruth, were attentive & made sure that we had everything we required. The Breakfast choices were second to none, beautifully presented & freshly prepared. We would have no hesitation in recommending this Property to anyone & look forward to staying there again! Stayed 3 nights at Hillside Lodge as a large family grouping of 8 (ranging in age from 10 to 80+). We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to booking a return visit. The breakfast at Hillside is amazing...in terms of choice and quality! Stuart and Ruth are lovely hosts and their accommodation is spotless. A super place to stay, a short distance from beautiful Clifden.

We stayed three nights and loved our stay. The weather was miserable and rainy but our hosts were friendly and welcoming. There is a distinct musical ethos to the house......decor, style, artworks and musical instruments. Everything was clean and well appointed. Comfortable bed and black out type window blinds. Tasty and varied breakfast menu with veggie/vegan options. I enjoyed chatting with Stuart about music and bands......and Bob Dylan! Stuart & Ruth know how to be friendly and engaging without being intrusive. The downstairs lounge has a treasure trove of books to read. No hesitation in recommending to other travellers.

We stayed one night with Ruth and Stuart, we would highly recommend it to anybody looking to stay in clifden, the room was lovely and clean and bed was very comfortable, breakfast was outstanding with a really great selection, better than any hotel buffet!!
