Gorgeous grounds!

Enjoyed the hike up and back as well as wandering these gorgeous grounds. I wish I had more time here, but with the hike and bad weather moving in, I had to get back to the hotel for dinner. Defo one to return to when in the area.

A must do in Donegal

Unfortunately, the castle is closed due to COVID. The gardens are beautiful and there are so many different walks to do. You can walk from the car park to the castle or take the shuttle bus which is electric. There is also bike hire on site which we did not use. We did a lovely walk to the waterfall from the castle and really enjoyed it. Great cafe on site with lovely coffee and food. Overall, it’s a great day out with beautiful nature to enjoy and mostly free

Beautiful park

Really great family day out. Loads of walks. We enjoyed the 45 min walk by the lake down to the castle. Views along the walk and from the castle are spectacular.

A nice garden to visit which is free to the public.

The day I visited was warm. The only problem is the amount of midgets around and not suitable for outdoor dining. The gardeners were willing to share their ideas.

Great Spot

Visited here on a recommendation from the hotel. Beautiful place whether you’re walking or cycling. We hired bikes, €25 for 2 bikes and you get 3 hours.
An incredible place to visit. The castle is fantastic, terrible shame it was closed but you can ramble around the gardens and tower. There’s a nice coffee shop here too. We cycled on up to the waterfall which was lovely, the scenery all around is great and makes the spin quite enjoyable. It’s a tough enough cycle if your not reasonably fit but it’s very doable.
Well worth a visit and admission is free, this was one of my favourite days touring Donegal.
