Gorgeous

We were in the middle of a heatwave so families were enjoying the ’beach’ at the upper lake. Very easy flattish walk of 20-25 minutes from the visitor centre.

Dissapointing

All dogs MUST be kept on leads at all times. If you’ve got a well trained dog who enjoys walking off lead dont bother taking it here.

If you are going though, you can avoid the car parking charges by parking on the road outside of the hotel.

Huge site with brilliant walks.

This place is well worth the visit and the €4 parking. The walks are superbly maintained and the views are stunning, we both walked the green and purple walks and my husband went on and did the white walk too! The green and purple there and back from the car park are about 10k together - enough for me! My husband said the white walk was superb with pat of it being made of a sleeper wood type boardwalk. Lots of people just go as far as the lake, which was beautiful and only a couple of kilometres walk. The monastic village is excellent too. Very highly recommended if you’re in the area.

Stunning

Did a glendalough walk with my husband from the visitor centre to the upper lake. Glendalough is beautiful, peaceful and tranquil, Beautiful meandering walkways passeing through the monastic city, forests and the lower lake. Enjoyed the amazing views of the upper lake over a picnic lunch. A must see, highly recommended.

The lakes !!

What a wonderful place to visit and it’s only a 45km drive from Dublin City. Beautiful meandering walkways pass through the forests and lakes. The only disappointment is the food offer or lack of, there was an ice cream van and a burger stand only with very limited food offering by the paid car park and top lake. Otherwise a very nice day out for all and probably best to bring your own food along !!

Must see. Highly Recommended

This Place is absoulty gorgoues weve been to alot of sights with hikes and walks around Ireland and this is one of the best if not the best. Only 4 Euro for parking but may take awhile to get parking if you aren’t early. We had a wait of maybe 20-30 minutes to get into the car park had to actually waot for cars to leave to free up spaces.
On the day we were here the car park was closing at 4 so to get the most of your visit be here as early as possible.
Beautiful sights everywhere around, we walked the Miners route and it was such a joy and walkable for any age or fitness.

Cant get enough

This is a beautiful place to visit, which we cannot get enough of, there is walking for all levels, we like to visit during the week as there is hardly anyone around (especially on cold days), we park at the Glendalough Visitor Centre, carpark as it is free and is the perfect place to start the loop walk, which incorporates the boardwalk along the lower lake, which pops out at the upper cark park (4euro for parking) and the beginning of the upper lake, 9the whole area is scenery overload), on the way back we take the forest walk. All in all a perfect day out.
