Description

Glasnevin Cemetery and Museum are both the guardians and storytellers for over 1.6 million people. From the ordinary to the truly extraordinary, these people helped shape the Ireland of today. We want to share their stories and times with you through tours of the cemetery, a visit to the museum or through a genealogy search for your family history. We are a not-for-profit organisation and all proceeds are used to sustain and improve our cemeteries to ensure they are places of beauty, interest and intrigue.

Best place to visit in Dublin

Excellent tour - Katelyn was extremely knowledgeable. We learnt a great deal about Irish history and the cemetery itself is very beautiful. The museum is also definitely worth a look – clearly a lot of money and effort has gone into it! The reception desk staff are worth a mention too, very friendly and helpful.

Glasnevin cemetery

Did a self-guided tour with audio guides on a whim after visiting the botanic gardens next door. The exhibit inside the museum was interesting (and seems very accessible for children, as well) and the cemetery itself has many important people. The biggest issue we had was that the maps provided were difficult to read and so we had trouble finding the specific graves that were featured on the audio guide. I imagine a guided tour would be great but there were none offered on the day we went.

We decided to go on this tour on a spur of the moment and it was amazing. Although a graveyard
/ cemetery is not what you would expect to have a brilliant day out (unless you are visiting a loved one) . The tour guide (Kate-lynn) was very knowledgeable and commanded the groups attention with her ease of story telling and perfect presentation. The museum exhibits were amazingly put together and video screens and were full history. The tower is absolutely awesome we managed to get to the top just as the sun was setting on a clear November day - was beautiful. Just be aware 198 steps is not easy .The tour is great for adults maybe a little scary for kids- worth every Penny will go again
