Frank Owens Bar

What a lovely bar I popped in here for a drink with friends and to see the G.O.T door which was amazing the young man Terrance serving was very attentive and full of banter and biss he gave us a wee tour of the place had a laugh with the customers as well . Came away smiling was worth the visit lovely establishment. Will definitely call in again next time on staycation.

Dear oh dear. The late Frank Owens would be horrified if he knew the terrible quality of Guinness his much-loved bar is now serving. I have never been served a worse pint of Guinness anywhere. I certainly didn’t expect to be served such rubbish in a bar renowned for a fine pint of stout.

Love this wee pub. Best Guinness in all the land. Always cosy and warm and welcoming. Of course the Game of Thrones door is cool ????

Our group stopped by for the door and felt very welcomed. It was very lively and full, but the lovely Sarah at the bar took time to speak with us about local attractions and history. I would like to go back again when she is working to learn more about the area!

I’ve been visiting this bar for the past nearly 7 years, and I can not fault it. If you want reasonably priced drinks, a great atmosphere, friendly staff, good live music, events, or even just a chat, then please visit franks, bars like this are very rare!

Visited the pub for the game of thrones door. The guy behind the bar was so friendly and helpful. We stopped for drinks and had a chin wag with locals.

Popped in here to see the door nice small pub Guinness good if your going in to see the door please purchase a drink as see lots of people being rude just going into see door walking out again

We visited here on 24th April as our first stop taking our American cousin visiting from Buffalo on our first Game of Thrones tour. We told the barman (the white bearded Batman) who gave us our ‘GOT Passports’, all the information we needed for our next few stops, and the warmest and most delightful service! Thank you so so much for such a lovely first stop setting us up for the road ahead!

People make places, and what might in other hands be an amiable or even average bar is enhanced and almost enchanted by the people who welcomed us here. A lot of disarming charm can be the prelude to some sort of sales pitch, but not a bit of that here - friendly, helpful, informative, enthusiastic with no apparent goal beyond the pleasure of simple conversation and pride in the bar’s reputation and how it is now home to one of the impressive Game of Thrones carved doors. You can go to some pubs for years and never get as warm a welcome as we had here.
