Good place to stay

Myself and my wife stayed for a number of nights and were completely satisfied with our experience. The Sheep's Head peninsula is stunning beautiful and the Lighthouse Loop walk is worth a visit alone. The Air India Memorial in nearby Ahakista is poignant and well worth a call also. The Bridge View House was a terrific base. The room was clean and the food excellent, including welcome was the availability of an evening meal. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Rita. We would highly recommend this gem.

Life Post Covid.

Bridge View House had to be completely rearranged to meet 2m separation requirements. We dined in what used to be the family’s lounge which for us resulted in a table for two set in a bay window overlooking the stream and the eponymous “Bridge”. A welcome from someone wearing a mask usually represents an alarming experience, unless you are on a stretcher on your way into a ICU - in which case you probably wouldn’t notice. The house is run by the Donegan family and Rita, heavily disguised in a Covid mask , welcomed us. Her mum Anne, similarly disguised, is in charge in the kitchen. We brought our own wine (as is permitted) and enjoyed a great meal. The prawns in the cocktail were big and plump on a crunchy salad with a punchy Marie Rose sauce. Rita, under threat of torture, refused to say in exactly what sauce the chicken, star of the chicken salad, had been marinated. It was great. All served with home made bread. The main course sirloin steak was just outstanding. Sourced from Macroom, thick as a fist, the minder said it was as good a sirloin as she’s ever had (a slice donated to me prompted agreement with this assessment). My rack of lamb was beautifully pink, served with boiled potatoes, red cabbage, really sweet carrots and brocoli. No room for puddings. The bill was €50. Let me know if you find better value.

A Memorble Dinner

The dining area in Bridge View House was lovely. We were treated to friendly and exceptional service by Rita. We had excellent fish and vegetables. Charlie, our tour guide at Hillside Walking Tours recommended this hotel restaurant and we were not disappointed. The desserts were hard to choose from and Ann, the chef came to our table to have a chat and see how we were enjoying ourselves. Although it was busy, we never felt rushed Thank you Bridge View for a memorable dinner.

Relaxing Break

My daughter and I were so lucky to have had the opportunity of staying at this wonderful family run establishment, and I really mean family run as everyone seemed to be involved when needed. The owners were so kind, really professional and could not do enough to make your stay a happy one. We ate in their restaurant on one evening and had some superb food, they even cooked a special dish for my daughter as she is vegetarian. The owners daughter is the Chef and cooks an amazing breakfast just what you need before walking the hills of The Sheeps Head. Our room was in a lovely cabin in the garden and was immaculate, the ensuite was massive with plenty of hot water, TV, Tea and Coffee facilities and very very !!! comfortable beds so if you are heading to gorgeous West Cork for a short break or a longer stay they the Bridgeview House is a must..........Go raibh mile maith agat
