About us

Country tea room in a lovely rural setting in South Armagh Located about 7 miles from Newry and 10 Miles from Armagh All home baked goodies from soups, cakes, tray bakes, scones, wheaten bread etc Serve some of the best toasted sandwiches you will find and caters for gluten free customers. My opening hours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm Wonderful coffee, tea and hot chocolate are always served with complimentary shortbread.

Cosy, welcoming and great value

We were told about this little gem of a place by our daughter and as we like good home cooked food we thought we would pay a visit. We were not disappointed. The staff are extremely friendly, the food is excellent (all home cooked by Sharon) and the prices are very reasonable. We will definitely be back.

Quality food, outstanding service. Chilled and relaxed.

Our family meet up here on occasions and get a catch up on life. The service is really friendly and you are always warmly greeted. With COVID in particular I’ve noticed that everything is spotlessly cleaned before the next customers are seated. For those who are not yet confident about dining inside with others (though spacing is good) there are 3 covered outside areas. All staff wear face shields which is another layer of confidence. I’m a creature of habit but have tried most if not all choices on the menu. My favourites are the toasted sandwiches or the prawn open. This is home cooking at its best. The cakes and desserts are home made also and of an excellent standard. I love the friendly relaxed atmosphere where you can chill and enjoy really good food. It’s number one for me in County Armagh????

Brownie Galore !

We were only stopping for a delivery but were treated as guests to a delightful brownie. Very safe and COVID friendly, which is important these days, a hidden gem.

Great cafe in the country

Always a pleasure to visit this very busy cafe located on a narrow country road near Mountnorris. Welcoming staff and host. Home baking at its best. I always have the prawn open sandwich with strawberry & rhubarb tart and a coffee to finish. You may have to wait for a table but it's well worth it!

The best food for miles

We live in Staffordshire and visit Bide A While every time we are in Ireland to visit family. We make sure our visits are towards the end of the week when this tea room is open???? The ambience is perfect and staff are so genuinely welcoming and helpful. Salads are just perfect and lovely and fresh. Cakes now they are worth a special mention. They are homemade, fresh and gorgeous. The gluten free options are fabulous with no scrappy wee brownies wrapped in cellophane on offer. They are the same quality as the other cakes with lots of choice available. My father is very deaf but loves going to Bide A While and is made so welcome it really is a treat for him. Thank you Sharon and other staff members you go the extra mile with quality food and hospitality and it is appreciated. See you again soon????

Hidden Gem

This is a best kept secret and a “must try” for anyone traveling through the area. Visiting from the states, stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised at the high quality lunch menu and delightful atmosphere created by the owner. Hands down the best desserts we’ve had in years.
